MONDAY:

1. Write a literary analysis of any of the books we've read this year. This means:
1. Decide on an opinion that answers one of the following topics (or other)
1. What is the theme (message/moral)?
2. Is the description effective?
3. Are the characters well-developed?
4. Are the characters round/dynamic/likable?
5. What is the main conflict?
6. Other
2. Support your opinion in a 1-2 page paper with at least 3 quotations from the book
1. Follow the following outline:
1. Brief 1-2 sentence summary of book
2. Statement of your opinion
3. Several pieces of evidence from the book supporting your opinion. Be sure to use your own words to explain your quotations!
4. Brief Conclusion to wrap it all up
2. When quoting the book, use the following structure: "Quotation… Quotation," (p. 43).
2. Read chapters 1-7 of Chinese Cinderella. This may seem like a lot of homework but the book is a very quick read and shouldn't take too long.

Hi Everyone!

This week is split into two sections:

MONDAY KIDS:
You should all be finished with Roll of Thunder, Hear My Cry and have 5 discussion questions to bring next week. I would also like you to write a 1-2 page book review on whether you thought the book was generally good or bad, and specific reasons why. Be sure to include specific reasons and evidence from the book for your opinions.

I suggest thinking about:

1. Plot: How was the beginning? The climax? The end?
2. Characters: Developed? Flat? Round? Static? Dynamic? Relatable? 
3. Theme: Was the lesson universal? Important? Well-developed?
4. Imagery: Were your senses excited? Did you feel like you were there?
5. Symbolism/Metaphors: Were there any? Should there have been more?
